benefits of fostering with Fortitude

It goes without saying that we believe our foster carers are the most important members of the Fortitude team. Therefore investing in the support and training we provide carers are our top priority.

support

We have developed a package of unique support that recognises the traumatic past experiences of Children in care and the lasting impact this has on their behaviour, which can make caring for them challenging. This includes:

  • Carer support groups this includes providing both practical and emotional support, social activities, forums and coffee mornings.

  • 24/7, 52 weeks of the year support, with an Out of Hours Duty Service lead by a qualified Social Worker.

  • Training & support informed by a therapeutic parenting model that is frequently sighted by carers as helpful in managing children’s behaviour, moods and daily challenges.

  • Direct support from a qualified and experienced psychotherapist.

  • Supervision & support from an experienced trained Social Worker with a limited caseload that enables them to give sufficient time to carers and the children in their care, necessary to resolve issues and support placement stability.

training

At Fortitude Fostering we believe in the need to create a stimulating learning environment with innovative training that develops practical skills, alongside the opportunity to study for accredited qualifications. Including the Diploma in Therapeutic Parenting and counselling skills Level 1 / 2.  Therefore we offer a timetable of blended learning that includes short courses and extended study delivered via classroom based learning, one to one and self-directed learning. We also use virtual and online platforms as well as face to face courses when required.

allowances

For each foster child in your care you will receive a weekly allowance from Fortitude Fostering. We feel that it is really important that this allowance covers all the child’s needs but also helps you maintain a decent lifestyle. Therefore, we have created an attractive fee structure that compares favourably with our competitors. For example, a carer on a standard rate would typically receive £475.34 per week, per child  (incl. of additional allowances). This would be the equivalent to a salary of up to £29,000 per annum, given that carer payments are tax free

We have also provided a range of additional allowances which take into account lifestyle requirements such as a holiday allowance, along with your need for rest and recuperation with a respite payment. Additionally, we offer a bridging allowance of up to £1200 (subject to conditions) that carers can access in between placements, when they would not usually receive an allowance. Want to know more?
